Official US 2012 Ryder cup issue, double sided markers (as shown in left column) are now available from the Ball Marker Collectors Club. All three markers have the 'stars and stripes' on the reverse and are 24mm in diameter. Priced each at £5.25, or £4.75 to members. The set of three can be acquired for £13.75, or £12.50 to members. A number of clubs that celebrated their centenaries in 2011, did not / have not yet released celebratory markers. There are a few others that have not been received and are not therefore shown above. A comprehensive listing of the omissions can be provided to members, on request. Watch this space for more info.
Shown below by way of a comparison are centenary markers that were issued 20 years earlier. They are all small brass stemmed markers, which some collectors prefer to some of the modern issues. What do you think?
If you have any centenaries from 1991 or 2011, that are not shown here, I would like to hear from you. Kinghamphil@aol.com
The powers that be at Augusta decided on a new range of logo's for the markers on offer in 2012. as far as we at the ball marker collectors club can ascertain there were 8 new issues. One was dated and is pictured far right. The others were all undated, 3 feature a starbust styles with black, white or green rims (which scan as blue)! The other 4 being a similar style to the dated marker with white, red, black or green rims. Again the green rims appear blue on my scanner! Click on image for clearer view.
Whether you like the changes or not I have shown some of the previous dated and undated versions from 2011 and 2010 for you to make your own minds up.
If like me you prefer the earlier issues and would like to purchase some of the above, all of the undated versions (the last four on the right) are readily available from the ball marker collectors club at £10.50 each, £9.50 to members. By way of comparison, prices recently achieved for some of these on ebay are shown on the BUY SELL & SWAP page of this site.

Royal Automobile Club
Recent issues from this club have been dissapointing for collectors of Royal markers, as shown here.

Old favourite and latest
Whilst the latest marker on the right is not quite up to the style and elegance of the earlier favourite, it is perhaps a step in the right direction.
Thanks to Geoff 110 Cambs for this latest Surrey update. More Surrey info in left hand column.
Very Special R & A issue Set
The set includes 10 one inch flat markers detailing the claret jug and the nine open venues and dates from 2006-2014 along with a magnetic housing carrier inscribed 'The Open Championship' which can accomodate any of the markers from the set. The set is completed with the distinctive circular box and logo from the issue The Open 2011, Royal St George's. A true collectors special. This official merchandise is available from the ballmarkercollectorsclub. Email Kinghamphil@aol.com if you would like to secure a set for yourself. If looking on ebay beware- some sellers are offering individual components of the set as seperate items (possibly to create shortages of certain components). If you want the set as a set, drop me an email.
The markers shown above are all worthy of note for different reasons. All were obtained in May 2011 as follows:
* 125th Anniversary issues of Gosport & Stokes Bay from golf club
* Golf Monthly double sider 1911-2011. Available as a free gift with the Special Anniversary issue of the magazine. Good magazine, great idea BUT shame about the choice and design of marker. Not worthy.
* 2011 Solheim cup crystal markers different designs for the two teams. Absolutely superb. The Solheim cup was played at Killeen Castle in September 2011. Markers obtained from Golfing Memories Ireland. See item on TRADE LINKS page for contact details.
Most of the Centenary issues for 2010 are shown above. A few clubs have issued more than one type of marker, namely Bishop Stortford, Dartmouth, Malton & Norton, Reading and Wetherby. Abergele issued 3 colour variations and Duff House Royal issued 5 different colour schemes. To stop carousel, or to see a description just hover mouse over image.
Many of these are still available from the clubs, but do get in quickly as most clubs only offer Centenary markers for a limited period. If there is something that you have difficulty obtaining, do get in touch as I have a few spares.
Some clubs that celebrated centenaries in 2010 did not issue commemorative markers, those being Ballina, Blairbeth, Carrick on Shannon, Dolgellau, Edenberry and Nottingham City. We will keep in touch with those clubs and if and when they see the error of their ways we will update this site accordingly. Ed.
If like me you played the Belfry and were disappointed that you couldn't get a marker for the course you played. You can now (November 2010) obtain stemmed or 1 inch flat magnetic golf design markers for the Derby, PGA National or Brabazon courses. Contact the pro shop or in case of difficulty, I have a few spares. Ed.
Markers from Merchandising Tent at Event
The markers on the left were all purchased at the event. Some are still available for sale prices £3.25 - £4.75. Contact Kinghamphil@aol.com

Ball markers as presents or prizes
Ideal as a present or as a prize. Fabulous product, well packaged, distinctive marker and magnetic hatclip from girlygolfers.com. See the Trade Links page for further products and contact details.
A pleasing style, these double siders are challenging my previous preference for the more traditional small brass, stemmed markers.
Good and interesting subject matter. Worthy of being included on the 'Specials' page. For clearer view click on images.

Take a bow, Longley Park Huddersfield.
This is an example of how a golf club Centenary can be celebrated in a way that doesn't break the bank, yet has a cordinated style that gets an effective message across to a large number of golfers. The commemorative pitch repairer and ball marker are sold in a plastic bag with a decorative header card, that shares the same logo as the special edition scorecard. Simple but very effective and collectable.

Rhondda Centenary Set 1910-2010
Comprising a Pitchmaster magnetic pitch repairer and matching ball marker, pictured out of it's blue presentation box with a perspex top. The marker is currently only available as part of the set.
Rhondda Centenary misspelt variety. The club received a batch from their manufacturer with an error. We know of at least one that was supplied by the club to one of our collectors Brian 206 Hants, before they were returned to the supplier. We doubt that many were sold so we rate this one as VERY RARE. Nice one Brian, thanks for the scan and the info.

Your choice is getting larger!
Picture illustrates the options that exsist in many areas for officially produced markers. From (part of ) the Muirfield 'Open' winners set on the bottom row (small brass markers 18mm diameter), through the double sided 25mm markers from the Ryder Cup on the third row, to the Super size 40mm double siders 'Poker Chips' and Mondomark for 2011 PGA and 2012 Ryder Cup.Whether you are a traditionist, or if you are looking for something more modern or just different- There is probably a range of markers that will interest you!

As reported in the Auction news section of the BUY SELL SWAP page, a stemmed marker identical to the one on the right featured recently. But, here are two variaties shown alongside a traditional stem. All are available for sale with the BMCC, cheaper I may add than the one sold on ebay and more choice too. Reason enough to ask us first, before getting too excited with your auction bidding?
We hope you have enjoyed looking at our site and that you would be interested in joining the ball marker collectors club.
In its simplest form, joining the BMCC involves a nominal (just £12) fee, with no ongoing annual charges. It is open to all Golfers/ Ball Marker Collectors, Worldwide. Our activities encompass many aids to collecting and it is entirely up to you how much or how little you get involved. The £12 fee will give you immediate access to our duplicate list, to buy or swap markers, as well as being able to list your own duplicates/wants. Most collectors confirm that the £12 is easily recovered on their first swap/trade when compared with business conducted with auction house sites. You will also receive contact information for other members with similar collecting interests to your own, along with an email of introduction to all of them, if required.
